Board of Trustees Celebrates Newly Tenured Faculty
As the 2024-25 academic year comes to a close, NOCCCD honors almost 20 faculty members for achieving tenure.
Achieving tenure is an indication of an individual’s deep dedication to the pursuit of knowledge and advancement of academia for the future generations. The road to tenure status is not a simple one: after a prospective faculty member has obtained a tenure-track position, they have limited number of years to compile an extensive portfolio of publications, research, or other materials that showcase their commitment to their area of study. Even after that, their submitted portfolio must go through a meticulous application process. NOCCCD was proud to honor several new tenured faculty members at the Tuesday, April 29, 2025 Board of Trustees meeting on.
NOCE’S tenured faculty this year are Corinna Lopez and Dr. Anacany Torres. Both women are strong supporters of the school’s immigrant student population; Lopez is a full-time ESL and Citizenship professor who leads Anaheim’s El Civics program while Dr. Torres helped found NOCE’s branch of the Rising Scholar’s program.
Fullerton College’s five newly tenured faculty are: head softball coach Crystal Aguirre; Christopher Andrade of Disability Support Services; Anthropology professor David Jacobsen; Paralegal Studies professor Michael Moore; and Horticulture professor Luellen Swayzer.
Cypress College had an impressive 11 faculty members reach tenure: Accounting instructor Dr. Abigail Awad; cofounder of the A2MEND Student Charter counselor LaRon Armstead; Psychology professor Dr. Hillary Reuter; Music Theory & Vocal Ensemble director Bradley Hampton; Ethnic Studies professor Dr. Giovanni Hortua; Chemistry instructor Phyllis Mays-Larson; English instructor Dr. Alejandro Omidsalar; Photography instructor Aydinaneth Ortiz; History professor Vincent Romo; Commercial Music & Composition instructor Clinton Rusich; and Physics instructor Aaron Schwartz.
Congratulations to all!
