The 2026 Teacher of the Year Gala
NOCCCD faculty were honored at the Disneyland Resort Hotel for the 2026 Orange County Teachers of the Year gala on November 7, 2025. All three campuses were nominated, with Fullerton College's Dr. Catherine Reinhardt-Zacair celebrated as one of the six finalists. This year's theme was "Lighting the Way".
62 honorees and six finalists were honored at the Disneyland Hotel this November at the 2026 Orange County Teacher of the Year gala hosted by the OC Department of Education. The event celebrates teachers who have made extraordinary contributions to quality education. Each public school district, regional occupational program and community college district was invited to submit top educators to the county competition, along with one private school and one charter school nominee. The six finalists were announced during surprise visits from the OC Department of Education back in April.
Attending the gala representing the District were:
- Francisco Perez, Professor, Cypress College (Nominee)
- Dr. Catherine Reinhardt-Zacair, Fullerton College (Finalist)
- Helen Serrano, NOCE (Nominee)
Each finalist received a $25,000 award from the Orange County Teachers of the Year Award Foundation, established by William, Jeff and Jennifer Gross. In addition, 10 semifinalists were awarded $7,500, and the remaining honorees each received $5,000 for their contributions to education.
"This year's theme, 'Lighting the Way,' perfectly depicts what these educators do each day: illuminating paths to success that reflect on each student's unique passions," said Stefan Bean, Ed.D., County Superintendent of Schools. "Whether it's by sparking curiosity, building confidence, or offering steady encouragement, great teachers help students unlock their full potential. Leading with purpose isn't easy, but those who answer the call make a lasting difference."
Congratulations to our faculty for all they've done for our students!
