Chancellor's Report - Dr. Cheryl Marshall
lNSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS VISIT - Dr. Marshall announced that there would be an institutional effectiveness visit to gather information on integrating planning and enrollment management.
WOMEN IN POLITICS SYMPOSIUM - Dr. Marshall invited everyone to attend the Women in Politics Symposium, and thanked those who sponsored students to attend the event.

Cypress College - Dr. Bob Simpson, President
THERMAL ENERGY UPDATE - Dr. Simpson gave an update on the North Campus Thermal Energy water storage tank. The project is running smoothly and is set to be complete by July 1… HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE - The College is set to host their second Yom HaShoah Day of Remembrance event, which should be a great success with over 1,000 attendees… AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY - The Automotive Technology program partnership with Toyota continues to pay huge dividends. Dr. Simpson went on to announce that the program will be honored on May 3 with the highest Toyota certification, CEED… ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING - On Friday Cypress College will welcome the College members of Los Amigos of Orange County for an advisory committee meeting… DRAFT REPORT - The College’s Accreditation Self Study Steering Committee convened last Wednesday to continue refinement of the draft report. The report is posted to the College website for third party review and comments... SOFTBALL - The Women’s Softball Team now stands at an incredible 39 – 0 with only one regular season game remaining. They are the top-rated team in the region and in the state, and have won the Orange Empire Conference title.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH - Dr. Schulz reported on Fullerton’s various community outreach events throughout the rest of April… UNDOCUMENTED STUDENT CONFERENCE - Dr. Schulz reported on the success of the 2nd annual Undocumented Student Conference… 2017 STUDENTS OF DISTINCTION - Dr. Schulz congratulated the 20 students selected as the 2017 Students of Distinction. They will be honored at an awards banquet on Friday, May 12 in the College Center Dining Hall... SPRING PRINCIPAL'S LUNCHEON - The College welcomed principals and superintendents to the Spring Principals’ Luncheon. The topic of the lunch focused on our efforts to provide a welcoming, inclusive learning environment and the support services we provide for undocumented students… SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS - On Tuesday, April 18, Fullerton College participated in events designed to raise awareness for violence against women and sexual assaults. Events included the Walk in Her Shoes event and the Clothesline Project… WORLDFEST - The Annual Fullerton WorldFest took place on April 20. NAME CHANGE - The VisionPoint Marketing team joined SCE’s Provost’s Cabinet to introduce the first draft of four concepts for the new North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE) logo… ACCREDITATION ACTION PLAN - Ms. Purtell gave an update on SCE’s revised WASC Accreditation Action Plan… CAREER PATHWAYS DAY - SCE s Career Technical Education (CTE) Program partnered with Vital Link and the Orange County Department of Education ACCESS for the second consecutive year in hosting a Career Pathways Day event today, April 25, 2017… I-BEST TRAINING - Faculty members and administrators from the North Orange County Regional Consortium (NOCRC) participated in a week-long training on the Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST) instructional delivery model, which incorporates basic skills training simultaneously into career technical education training... SCHOLARSHIP LUNCHEON - The 2016 Possibilities Scholarship Awards Luncheon will be on May 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Anaheim Campus Rooms Cypress Bistro, and will include a presentation of awards… STAFF LUNCHEON - SCE classified staff will be honored at the “You’re Cool” 1950’s-themed luncheon on Thursday, May 18 at the Anaheim Campus.

CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS - Adjunct Faculty United president Kent Stevenson spoke on the group’s ongoing contract negotiations. He also congratulated SCE student, Sarah Rail, who was named a scholarship recipient.

LEGACY PROGRAM – Student Trustee Tanya Washington reported on her recent Historic Black Colleges Tour with fellow Legacy Program Students. She also reported that the Legacy Program Scholar Awards Banquet would be on May 11.
FOUNDATION UPDATE – Trustee Barbara Dunsheath gave an update on the Cypress College Foundation. She also reported that ACCT was accepting faculty nominations for awards.
STRATEGIC CONVERSATIONS – Board President Molly McClanahan thanked SCE for hosting the Strategic Conversations Event. She also gave an update on various community activities that students and employees should attend.
Finance and Facilities
PURCHASE ORDERS - It was recommended that the Board ratify purchase orders and checks. (THE PURCHASE ORDERS AND CHECKS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW IN THE DISTRICT'S BUSINESS OFFICE.)
GENERAL FUND AND CAPITAL OUTLAY - The Board authorized a request for the 2016-2017 General Fund and Capital Outlay Fund transfers and adoption of the resolutions showing the summary, pursuant to the California Code of Regulations, Title 5, §58307. (THE RESOLUTIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW IN THE DISTRICT'S BUSINESS OFFICE.)
DEDUCTIVE CHANGE ORDER - The Board approved the Deductive Change Order #1 for Bid #2016-08, First Floor Tenant Improvements Project at Anaheim Campus with CalTec Corp.
ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES AGREEMENT - The Board authorized a request to enter into an architectural services agreement with Westberg & White Architecture for the Expansion of Parking Lots 4 & 5 Project at Cypress College.
FISCAL AFFAIRS - Budget Resource Allocation presentations were completed at both Fullerton College and Cypress College. The Anaheim Campus presentation will take place on Wednesday, April 12, at 3:00 p.m. in Room 105.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS FEES - The Board authorized the list of instructional materials fees provided by the District Curriculum Coordinating Council.
PUENTE PROJECT BANQUET - The Board authorized the request for Fullerton College to host the Puente Project End-of-the-Year Banquet on May 18, 2017 at a cost not to exceed $8,800.
NEW REVENUE - The Board authorized the request to accept new revenue from the Master Agreement and Participation Agreement under the Strong Workforce Program – Regional Fund (SWP) Grant in the Amount of $38,333.
RETIREMENTS - The Board approved the retirements of Roselle Calderon-Teneza, Cypress College Financial Aid Technician, effective January 4, 2017.
PROMOTIONS - The Board approved the promotion of Mary Ann Babbo to the School of Continuing Education Administrative Assistant III, effective April 26.
RESOLUTION NO. 16/17-19 – The Board adopted Resolution No. 16/17-19, declaring the week of May 21-27, 2017, as Classified School Employee Week.
RESOLUTION NO. 16/17-20 – The Board adopted Resolution No. 16/17-20, declaring the week of May 1-5, 2017, as Teacher Appreciation Week.
RESOLUTION NO. 16/17-24 – The Board adopted Resolution No. 16/17-24 verifying that Student Trustee Tanya Washington was absent from the Special Board Meeting of March 30, 2017 due to hardship.
The next regular meeting of the NOCCCD Board of Trustees will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in the first-floor Board Room, Anaheim Campus, 1830 W. Romneya Drive, Anaheim.
