Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Faculty and Staff Association

The Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Faculty / Staff Association (APIDA FSA) at the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD) is dedicated to advocating for the APIDA community. We aim to increase awareness of APIDA issues and foster a more inclusive and informed campus environment. Through education, cultural engagement, and community-building, we support the diverse voices and experiences of APIDA students, faculty, and staff across Cypress College, Fullerton College, and North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE).

Our Purpose

  • Foster fellowship and create a network among the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) employees of the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD)
  • Offer support and mentorship for the APIDA students of the District
  • Provide opportunities for study, discussion, and action on important issues and challenges relating to APIDA students and employees of the District
  • Create awareness of critical issues facing APIDA students and/or employees

Membership & Dues

The APIDA FSA is open to any NOCCCD faculty or staff member interested in furthering their understanding of the Asian American and Pacific Islander Desi American cultures represented throughout NOCCCD. The membership fee is $100 annually, payable to Fullerton College for each academic year July-June. The membership fees fund the APIDA annual scholarships for students at Cypress College, Fullerton College and NOCE. For adjunct and part-time staff, the membership fee is $50 annually. We appreciate and value your support for student scholarships!

The APIDA Faculty Staff Association seeks to recognize students who represent the spirit of APIDA through their academic accomplishments and personal commitment to their community, campus, and/or family. APIDA FSA awards a $300 scholarship to one currently enrolled student in any field at each of the three NOCCCD campuses: Cypress College, Fullerton College, and North Orange Continuing Education.

If you attend multiple campuses in the District, please only apply to one campus scholarship. Previous APIDA scholarship recipients are ineligible to re-apply.

Eligibility

Cypress or Fullerton College Applicants

  • Be a currently enrolled student at Cypress or Fullerton College.
  • Have a 2.5 GPA minimum by the end of Fall 2025.
  • Plan to do one of the following:
    • Finish a certificate in a Career Technical Education field for the academic year
    • Earn an associate degree for the academic year
    • Be enrolled at least half-time at an accredited 4-year college or university in the next fall or spring term

NOCE Applicants

  • Be a currently enrolled student at NOCE
  • Plan to do one of the following:
    • Finish the High School Diploma program for the academic year
    • Finish the Career Technical Education certificate for the academic year
    • Finish the English as a Second Language certificate for the academic year
    • Attend a community college in the fall or spring term of the next academic year

Application Process

A complete scholarship packet includes:

  1. A completed online student application which includes a personal essay detailing accomplishments and future goals. Students can discuss academic achievements/awards, campus activities, work experience, community involvement, volunteer work, and/or family responsibilities
  2. Completed Questionnaire from a Recommender.
