Watch Party for Dr. Carol Anderson “One Person, No Vote: How Voter Suppression is Destroying our Democracy”
- -
- Cypress College Zoom/Virtual
This event will have two modalities – it will be available through our webinar/zoom format, as well as an in-person watch party at Cypress College.
Dr. Carol Anderson is the Charles Howard Candler Professor and Chair of African American Studies at Emory University. She is the author of several award-winning books, including the New York Times bestseller White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of our Racial Divide; One Person, No Vote: How Voter Suppression is Destroying our Democracy, which was Longlisted for the National Book Award; and The Second: Race and Guns in a Fatally Unequal America.
Since we are approaching the 2024 presidential election, the workshop would explore voter suppression among African Americans, minorities, and the low income in general. Dr. Carol Anderson has done extensive research on this topic in her book, “One Person, No Vote: How Voter Suppression Is Destroying Our Democracy.” She is such a dynamic high-profile speaker and her views on voter suppression are stellar and needed, especially since we are going into a major presidential election this year. Dr. Anderson is based in Atlanta and will be conducting this session via Webinar format.
After the virtual event portion, we invite you to join us in an in-depth panel discussion with faculty members from various disciplines across the academic community.
