Some responsibilities of the Risk Management Department are:
- Workers' Compensation Program
- Ergonomics Program
- Property & Liability Program
- Claims against the District
- Insurance
- Incident Reports
- Releases and agreements
- Service of Subpoena
- Study Abroad/Out of the country travel
- District-wide Safety Program
- Emergency Preparedness Coordination
Report a Workplace Injury
Regardless of whether the injured employee requires medical care or files a claim, the manager must turn in a Manager's Report & an employee must turn in an Employee's Report within 72 hours (about 3 days) and send them to the Risk Management.
Critical Resources
Workers' Compensation
California's no-fault Workers' Compensation (WC) plan was passed by the State legislature almost a century ago to guarantee prompt, automatic benefits to employees who sustain on-the-job injuries or illnesses.
Property and Liability Insurance Program
NOCCCD is self-insured against property loss and liability claims through a Joint Powers of Authority, Alliance of Schools for Cooperative Insurance Programs (ASCIP). Claims against the District must be presented on the District Claim form. Small, minor property claims are handled in-house, using the Property Claim Release forms. Both forms are available via myGateway.
Emergency Preparedness
Each campus has specific protocols and Incident Command Systems (ICS) when responding to emergencies.
Related Plans, Policies & Procedures
The District Manager of Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for implementing the District-wide safety program. Responsibilities include coordinating safety trainings for employees, participating in campus safety meetings, conducting site inspections, developing procedures to minimize toxic chemical exposure, and working with government agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA).
NOCCCD is dedicated to fostering a District work and learning environment that is completely free from violence. Our primary focus, in accordance with California law, is on effectively managing critical workplace incidents, particularly those involving actual or potential violence.
Ergonomics
- Policy
The purpose of NOCCCD’s ergonomics program is to identify and eliminate potential work related musculoskeletal disorder (WMSD) hazards in order to prevent employee injury.
