Cypress College – Dr. JoAnna Schilling, President
HUNGER INITIATIVES & FUNDRAISING EFFORTS – Dr. Schilling shared campus hunger initiatives and fundraising efforts including: Associated Students Thanksgiving baskets; Donate a Meal initiative; campus-wide Friendsgiving; Butte College wildfire relief; and Giving Tuesday Foundation campaign… FINE ARTS EVENTS – The President announced upcoming holiday Fine Arts events including: Celebration of Dance; Vocal Chorale and Jazz Concert; and Triple Threat Week… IEPI WORKSHOP – Dr. Schilling reported that the college will be sending a team of 12 faculty, staff, and students to the IEPI Workshop on Guided Pathways hosted by the State Chancellor's Office… NEW EMPLOYEES – The President introduced new employees Liz Arcos-Realpe, Facilities Scheduler, and Juan Carlos Rodriguez, M&O Custodial Manager, and announced that Karen Joy will serve as Interim Executive Assistant III in the President's Office.
Fullerton College – Dr. Greg Schulz, President
THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE – Dr. Schulz thanked the Ethnic Studies Department, MECHA, and other student clubs for hosting the Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive… KWANZAA CELEBRATION – The President announced the upcoming Kwanzaa Celebration hosted by the Ethnic Studies Department and Umoja Program on November 29, 2018… ASSESSMENT & ORIENTATION CHANGES – Dr. Schulz shared that, effective November 19, 2018, the campus Assessment Center implemented new procedures to adhere to California AB 705… PRESIDENT'S OPEN FORUM – The President highlighted topics discussed at the recent President's Open Forum including: California wildfires; Transfer Center efforts with the approach of UC and CSU application deadlines; the economic impact of Fullerton College on the region; Guided Pathways; and Chancellor Oakley's State of the System address.
North Orange Continuing Education – Valentina Purtell, Provost
TRAUMA-INFORMED LEARNING CONFERENCE – Ms. Purtell announced that NOCRC will host a free, two-day conference focused on trauma-informed communities of learning November 28-29, 2018 at the Business Expo Center in Anaheim… THANKSGIVING CANNED FOOD DRIVE – The Provost shared that NOCE joined Cypress College Associated Students in collecting canned goods in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday… NOCRC GRAND OPENING – The Provost reported that 80 attendees stopped by for the grand opening of the new Adult Education Program offices on November 16, 2018… LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL EVENT – The Provost commented that Disability Support Services will host its annual Life After High School event on December 7, 2018 at the Anaheim Campus.

DMA UPDATES – District Management Association President Richard Fee invited the Board to the DMA Holiday Party from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on December 7, 2018, and thanked District Director, Printing and Design, Monica Farias and NOCE Director, Campus Communications, Jennifer Perez for their work coordinating DMA events.
UF UPDATES – United Faculty President Dana Clahane announced the new UF Vice President Dr. Leonor Cadena, Fullerton College faculty member, and read the resolution signed by the Academic Senate Presidents from Cypress College, Fullerton College, and NOCE, UF President, and ADFAC President in opposition to the hiring of new District directors.

CAMPUS ACTIVITIES – Fullerton College Student Trustee Pascual Castillo commented on a Thanksgiving feast hosted by Associated Students and canned food drive coordinated by MECHA, announced the UC and CSU application deadlines, and welcomed Anaheim Pledge students presenting to the Board.
CCLC CONVENTION – Board Member Stephen Blount shared that he attended workshops on the faculty obligation number, student housing, and veterans at the Community College League of California Convention November 15-17, 2018 in Rancho Mirage.
CCLC CONVENTION – Board Member Molly McClanahan reported that she joined Trustees Blount, Brown, and Dunsheath at the Community College League of California Convention November 15-17, 2018 in Rancho Mirage.
WEBINARS – Board Member Barbara Dunsheath commented on upcoming webinars including one from the State Chancellor's Office on the funding formula and one from ACCJC on accreditation.
CCLC CONVENTION – Board Member Jeffrey Brown shared that he attended workshops on formerly incarcerated students and open educational resources at the Community College League of California Convention November 15-17, 2018 in Rancho Mirage.
STUDENT SUCCESS & EQUITY – The Board conducted a study session to review and discuss Districtwide efforts related to guided pathways, the Anaheim Pledge, dual enrollment, and student success data in order to promote student success and equity. Click here to view the study session presentation.
Finance & Facilities
ROP TECHNOLOGY UPDATE – The Board approved the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Technology Update for Students as a one-time cost of $122,040.
CENTRALIA SCHOOL DISTRICT – The Board authorized the request to enter into a license agreement with Centralia School District in the amount of $86,372, effective December 1, 2019 through November 30, 2019.
NOCE CURRICULUM – The Board approved the summary of curriculum additions and revisions for North Orange Continuing Education, to be effective in the Winter 2019 trimester.
TITLE V HISPANIC-SERVING INSTITUTIONS PROGRAM – The Board authorized the request to accept new revenue from the U.S. Department of Education Title V Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program in the amount of $2,730,077 over the next five years.
ACCREDITATION FOLLOW-UP REPORTS – The Board received as information items the first drafts of the Cypress College Accreditation Follow-Up Report and the Fullerton College Accreditation Follow-Up Report.
RETIREMENT – The Board approved the retirement of Lori Cronin, Fullerton College Health Services Administrative Assistant, effective February 2, 2019.
PROMOTIONS – The Board approved the promotions of Juan Guerrero to Cypress College Manager, Custodial Services, effective November 28, 2018 and Alicia Sanchez to Fullerton College Administrative Assistant II, effective November 28, 2018.
LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES – The Board approved the recommended state and federal legislative priorities for 2019-20, and empowered the Chancellor of the North Orange County Community College District to advocate for the interests of the students, staff, and faculty of the District on behalf of the Board.
BOARD ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING – The Board established Tuesday, December 11, 2018 as the date of its Organizational Meeting and amended, as necessary, the suggested 2019 meeting calendar.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS – The Board discussed any potential future agenda items.
The next regular meeting of the NOCCCD Board of Trustees will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, in the first-floor Board Room, Anaheim Campus, 1830 W. Romneya Drive, Anaheim.
