“CHARGING UP DUAL ENROLLMENT” PRESENTATION – Cypress College Dean of Business and CIS Henry Hua presented on dual enrollment at Cypress College. The presentation highlighted the partnership between the college and Anaheim Union High School District, the pilot dual enrollment program, success strategies, and increased growth in enrollment… FACULTY ACHIEVING TENURE – The following faculty were introduced to the Board by the college Presidents and Provost as achieving tenure: Cypress College – Kinesiology Instructor Andrew Alhadeff, Dental Hygiene Instructor Julia Cherney, EOPS Counselor Eva Palomares, EOPS Counselor Alan Reza, Nursing Instructor Susan Smith, and Business/Management Instructor Kathleen Troy; Fullerton College – Theatre Arts Instructor Timothy Espinosa, Ethnic Studies Instructor Amber Gonzalez, CIS Instructor Gabriella Fernandez, Horticulture Instructor Valerie Loew, Business Instructor Barry McCarthy, Counselor Manuel Montoya, Administration of Justice Instructor Kelly Robertson, Counselor Deanna Smedley, and Automotive Technology Instructor Charles Zepeda; NOCE – Basic Skills Instructor Janet Cagley, DSS Instructor Kristina de la Cerda, and SSSP Counselor Megan Ly.

Cypress College – Dr. JoAnna Schilling, President
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS – Dr. Schilling congratulated Dean of Business and CIS Henry Hua on his work in dual enrollment and Counselor Therese Mosqueda-Ponce for receiving the Latina Leadership Network Madrina Award. The President thanked faculty members Cliff Lester and David Halahmy for coordinating Yom HaShoah on April 17, 2018… WOMEN'S SOFTBALL – Dr. Schilling announced that the women’s softball team won its 4th consecutive OEC title… COMMUNITY EVENT – The President shared that two Cypress College art students presented their scholarly research at University of California, Riverside on April 21, 2018 as part of the Art and Politics 2nd Annual Community College Art History Conference… CONDOLENCES – Dr. Schilling reported on the passing of retired Cypress College Ceramics Instructor Charlene Felos on April 15, 2018.
Fullerton College – Dr. Greg Schulz, President
FC SUMMER SCHEDULE – Dr. Schulz shared that the Fullerton College summer schedule is now available with registration beginning May 1, 2018 and classes starting June 11, 2018 … STUDENTS OF DISTINCTION – The President announced that 20 Fullerton College scholars will be honored as Students of Distinction at the Annual Awards Banquet on May 11, 2018… OUTREACH – Dr. Schulz reported on outreach events including: Honors Program Information Night; High School Night; AUHSD Pledge Night; Higher Education Night at Anaheim High School; Kindercaminata; and Love Fullerton… MEN'S BASEBALL – The President shared that the men’s baseball team defeated Cypress College on April 24, 2018.
North Orange Continuing Education – Valentina Purtell, Provost
CONGRATULATIONS – Ms. Purtell introduced Margie Abab to the Board as the permanent Director of the Basic Skills, High School Diploma, and GED Preparation Program… COMMENCEMENT – The Provost announced that Mayor Pro Tem Jose F. Moreno accepted the invitation to be the 2018 NOCE Commencement speaker… RETIREMENT CELEBRATION – Ms. Purtell shared that NOCE celebrated SERP retirees at the Anaheim Campus on April 18, 2018.

DMA LUNCH & LEARN – District Management Association President Eldon Young commented that DMA hosted a Lunch & Learn event featuring words of wisdom from retirees on April 20, 2018.
NOCE ACADEMIC SENATE UPDATE – NOCE Academic Senate President Tina McClurkin reported on the State-wide Academic Senate 2018 Spring Plenary Session, NOCE Academic Senate website and elections.
CC ACADEMIC SENATE UPDATE – Cypress College Academic Senate President Bryan Seiling commented on the Dual Enrollment Program, online college and performance-based funding resolutions, and winter intersession.
FC ACADEMIC SENATE UPDATE – Fullerton College Academic Senate President Josh Ashenmiller reported on the State-wide Academic Senate 2018 Plenary Session, winter intersession, and online college and performance-based funding resolutions.
UF UPDATE – United Faculty President Dana Clahane commented on online college and performance-based funding resolutions, UCLA’s Community College to PHD Scholars Program, and United Faculty membership growth.
CSEA BREAKFAST – CSEA President Rod Lusch invited the Board to the CSEA Chapter #167 Classified School Employee Week Breakfast event at the Marriott Courtyard on May 8, 2018.
ADFAC UNITED UPDATE – ADFAC United President Kent Stevenson reported on ADFAC membership drives at Cypress College and Fullerton College and District negotiations.

CAMPUS ACTIVITIES – Cypress College Student Trustee Daniel Sebastian commented on campus activities including: Associated Students elections; Sex Day; Police Forum; Associated Students Recruitment Day; and Parent Night. Fullerton College Student Trustee Andrew Washington reported on campus activities including Associated Students’ resolution in support of winter intersession at Fullerton College and Grad Week. Board Member Molly McClanahan shared that Fullerton Beautiful is hosting an Open Gardens Tour at Fullerton College on April 29, 2018.
CURRENT EVENTS – Board Member Barbara Dunsheath reported on a Los Angeles Times article about the anti-corruption task force collapse in Orange County and Denim Day for sexual assault awareness on April 25, 2018.
Finance & Facilities
GENERAL FUND & CAPITAL OUTLAY – The Board authorized the 2017-18 General Fund and Capital Outlay Fund transfers. (The Resolution is available for review in the District’s Business Office).
UNION BANK – The Board authorized the request to adopt a resolution to designate the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Finance & Facilities, and District Director, Fiscal Affairs, as contracting officers for a District revolving checking account at Union Bank. (The Resolution is available for review in the District’s Business Office).
BID #17/18-24 – The Board authorized the request to award Bid #17/18-24, Parking Lot 5 Expansion at Cypress College, to GB Construction, Inc. as the lowest overall responsive and responsible bidder.
LPA, INC. – The Board authorized the request to amend the architectural consultant services agreement with LPA, Inc. for the Science, Engineering, and Math Project at Cypress College, expansion of the Veterans’ Resource Center including the Veterans’ Memorial Plaza at Cypress College, and renovation of the Student Activities Center at Cypress College and increase the contract amounts.
BUILDING 300-500 RENOVATION PROJECT & INSTRUTIONAL BUILDING PROJECT – The Board authorized the District to enter into two individual Project Task Order Agreements with Dovetail Decision Consultants, Inc. to provide Furniture, Fixture & Equipment (FF&E) Coordination Consulting Services for the Building 300-500 Renovation Project and the Instructional Building Project.
FF&E COORDINATION – The Board approved the agreement of FF&E coordination consulting services for the Cypress College Science, Engineering, and Math Project, Cypress College Veterans’ Resource Center Project, and Cypress College Student Activities Center Project to Dovetail Decision Consultants, Inc.
RFP #1718-15 – The Board authorized the request to award RFP #1718-15, Operation of Food Service Program at Fullerton College, to Sodexo America, LLC for management and operation of food services.
BID #1718-23 – The Board authorized the request to award Bid #1718-23, EFI H1625 LED Wide Format Printer for Fullerton College, to Ricoh as the lowest overall responsive and responsible bidder.
BID #1718-21 – The Board authorized the request to award Bid #1718-21, Theatrical Lighting and Materials for Fullerton College, to Acey Decy Equipment Co. as the lowest overall responsive and responsible bidder.
CC TECHNOLOGY – The Board authorized the request for the purchase of laptop computers, computer servers and computing carts for Cypress College using the State of California, WSCA-NASPO Cooperative Purchasing Program Contract MNWNC-108/7-15-70-34-003, to Sidepath, Inc.
CCAP DUAL ENROLLMENT PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT – The Board received the NOCCCD College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) Dual Enrollment Partnership Agreement for 2018-2021 as information.
DEPUTY SECTOR NAVIGATOR – The Board authorized the request to accept new revenue from the Deputy Sector Navigator – Small Business and Entrepreneurship in the amount of $5,980.
FC DONATIONS – The Board authorized the request for Fullerton College to accept donations to its divisions, departments, and library.
PROMOTION – The Board approved the promotions of AnnMarie Ruelas to Cypress College Director, EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs, effective April 25, 2018; Lance Aponte to Anaheim Campus Data Quality Analyst, effective April 25, 2018; Sergio Leonardo to Cypress College Landscape Coordinator, effective April 25, 2018; and Elizabeth Villasenor to Anaheim Campus Accounting Specialist, effective May 1, 2018.
RESOLUTION #17/18-13 – The Board adopted Resolution No. 17/18-13, declaring the week of May 20-26, 2018 as Classified School Employee Week.
RESOLUTION #17/18-14 – The Board adopted Resolution No. 17/18-14, declaring the week of May 7-11, 2018 as Teacher Appreciation Week.
BOARD POLICY 2015 – The Board re-adopted Board Policy 2015, Student Members.
