SHERBECK FIELD – Two Fullerton community members expressed concerns about the Sherbeck Field improvements.
SEM – Cypress College Astronomy Professor Michael Frey reported on the positive impact of creating a new Science, Engineering, and Math Building.
Chancellor's Report - Dr. Cheryl A. Marshall
CYPRESS COLLEGE PRESENTATION – Fred Williams, Vice-Chancellor of Finance & Facilities presented an update on the Cypress College Science, Engineering, and Math (SEM) Building. There was a general consensus made by the Board of Trustees to move forward with the current building plans, which are estimated to cost 95 million dollars.

Cypress College - Dr. JoAnna Schilling, President
CAMPUS ACTIVITIES – Dr. Schilling reported on end-of-the-year events including: The Campus Safety Forum; the Adopt a Family Celebration; the President’s Holiday Reception; and the nursing department’s pinning ceremony… COMMUNITY EVENTS – The President reported on the community events she attended and will be attending during the week including: the annual fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Stanton; the Cypress Holiday Concert; Cypress Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Extravaganza; and the bi-annual CSULB Education Leadership Forum.
Fullerton College - Dr. Greg Schulz, President
ENROLLMENT – The President gave a spring semester enrollment update… FOOTBALL – The Football team won their second CCCAA State Championship title... CAMPUS EVENTS – Dr. Schulz reported on campus events including: the EOPS’ Adopt an Angel event; the Umoja Program’s Kwanzaa celebration; and the annual Fullerton College holiday party… FACILITIES MASTER PLAN – The President reported that the Final Fullerton College Facilities Master Plan Program EIR is now available for viewing… MARKETING EVENT – The Office of Campus Communications hosted booths at the Fullerton Winter Market to carry the college’s brand into the community… FOOD INSECURITY – Dr. Schulz reported on campus efforts to create awareness on food insecurity.
North Orange Continuing Education - Valentina Purtell, Provost
AEBG SUMMIT – The Provost reported that the AEBG-ESL team will present at the AEBG Summit in 2018… WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD – NOCE is working with the Workforce Development Board to provide information on NOCE courses at the Garden Grove One-Stop Center… ADULT EDUCATION ADVOCACY – Ms. Purtell reported on advocacy priorities regarding K12 adult education and community college noncredit education… STRONG WORKFORCE INITIATIVE – NOCE hosted a career exploration and workforce prep fair for students… ACTIVITIES – the Provost reported on campus activities including: the Pastries with the Provost event; the NOCE Holiday Celebration; the “Feasts from the Heart” meal preparation event; and the memorial gathering to honor CTE student Jason LaGese.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS – District Management Association President Eldon Young and NOCE Academic Senate President Tina McClurkin had no report but wished everyone happy holidays.
GUIDED PATHWAYS – Cypress College Academic Senate President Bryan Seiling reported on the recent Academic Senate meeting where guided pathways, winter intercession, and graduation regalia were discussed.
WINTER SESSION – Fullerton College Academic Senate President Josh Ashenmiller reported on winter session preparations and congratulated the football team on their championship title.
ONLINE COLLEGE – United Faculty President Dana Clahane gave an update on the proposed online community college from the State Chancellor’s Office.
CSEA EVENT – CSEA President Rod Lusch reported on the upcoming CSEA Officer Installation event.

CYPRESS EVENTS – Cypress College Student Trustee Daniel Sebastian reported on Cypress Campus events for finals week and the holidays.
FULLERTON EVENTS – Fullerton College Student Trustee Andrew Washington reported on the Umoja Program’s Kwanzaa celebration, the holiday party, and finals week activities.
FULLERTON FOOTBALL – Board Member Stephen T. Blount reported on his attendance at the Fullerton Football Championship game.
LEGACY PROGRAM – Board Secretary Ryan Bent reported attending Legacy Program events and socializing with its members.
ESL – Board Member Molly McClanahan reported on the NOCE ESL Mentorship Program.
CHARITY OUTREACH – Board Vice-President Jeffrey P. Brown reported on the importance of the charity FirstBook.org in instilling a love of education and reading.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS – Board Member Barbara Dunsheath wished everyone happy holidays.
CAMPUS EVENTS – Board President Jacqueline Rodarte attended the Cypress College holiday party and the Fullerton College Foundation meeting.
Finance and Facilities
PURCHASE ORDERS AND CHECKS – The Board ratified purchase orders and checks. (THE PURCHASE ORDERS AND CHECKS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW IN THE DISTRICT'S BUSINESS OFFICE.)
GENERAL FUND – The Board authorized the request for the 2017-2018 General Fund transfers and the adoption of the resolution showing the summary, pursuant to the California Code of Regulations, Title 5, §58307. (THE RESOLUTION IS AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW IN THE DISTRICT'S BUSINESS OFFICE.)
CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE BUDGET – The Board adopted a resolution establishing separate bank, saving, clearing, and revolving accounts pursuant to the California Community College Budget and Accounting Manual as authorized by §84030 of the Education Code, and in accordance with Education Code §58311 of Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations. ANNUAL AUDITS – The Board received and reviewed the annual audits of the District for fiscal year 2016-2017.
TESTING SERVICE AGREEMENT – The Board authorized the amendment of the testing service agreement with Koury Engineering & Testing, Inc. for the Cypress College Central Plant & Thermal Energy Storage Tank project.
TRAVEL APPROVAL – The Board retroactively approved the out-of-country travel for Jamie Shew, Aram Barsamian, and Markus Burger. The Board also authorized the request to pre-approve out-of-country travel for Jeremy Siskind and Michael Mangan.
RESOLUTION NO. 17/18-08 – The Board adopted Resolution No. 17/18-08 for the Certification of the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) and approved the Master Plan Projects for Fullerton College as set forth in the FEIR effective December 12, 2017. INTEGRATED PLANS – The Board approved the 2017-2019 Integrated Plans for Cypress College, Fullerton College, and North Orange Continuing Education.
CURRICULUM CHANGES – The Board approved the summary of curriculum changes for Cypress College, to be effective Fall 2017 and Fall 2018, and approved the summary of curriculum changes for Fullerton College, to be effective Fall 2018.
DONATION APPROVAL – The Board approved the request for North Orange Continuing Education to accept donations for their 2017 Harvesting Opportunities event.
GUIDED PATHWAYS – The Board received as information the Guided Pathways Self-Assessments for Cypress College, Fullerton College, and North Orange Continuing Education.
PROMOTIONS – The Board approved the promotions of Dulcemonica Delgadillo to NOCE Senior Research Analyst, effective December 13; Chelsea Salisbury to Anaheim Campus Communications Coordinator, effective January 22; and Harpreet Uppal to NOCE Research Analyst, effective December 13.
RETIREMENTS – The Board approved the retirements of Patricia Green-Pappas, Fullerton College Early Childhood Education Instructor, effective December 17; Angela Lippolt-Rios, Cypress College Landscape Coordinator, effective December 30; and Mark Stinson, Fullerton College Facilities Custodian, effective December 30.
The next regular meeting of the NOCCCD Board of Trustees will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, in the first-floor Board Room, Anaheim Campus, 1830 W. Romneya Drive, Anaheim.
