On June 13, 2018, NOCE welcomed Janeth Manjarrez as the new Adult Education Block Grant (AEBG) Director overseeing the North Orange County Consortium for Adult Education. As the AEBG Director, Manjarrez will support faculty and staff to develop and sustain quality noncredit and adult education programs in the region.
Manjarrez joins NOCE with comprehensive knowledge and experience working with state and regional partners. As the Director of Career Technical Education (CTE) Data Unlocked, Strong Workforce Program for the LA/OC Community College Consortium, Manjarrez managed a $50 million budget, guided all assigned colleges to complete 37 regional projects, and exceeded all outcomes. Manjarrez served as the Director of the Workforce Investment Act Internship Project sponsored by the Orange County Workforce Investment Board and managed a regional CTE initiative involving 77 schools, nine community colleges, three private universities, and 300 businesses to develop employability skills training and an internship program for the advanced manufacturing and engineering industries. Her experience as a counselor for K-12 and community colleges led Manjarrez to her passion for supporting student needs.
As a first-generation graduate, Manjarrez knows the value of higher education and career readiness. She obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature, counseling credential, and master's degree in educational counseling and guidance from California State University, San Bernardino. With extensive training in grant management, Manjarrez also holds certificates of completion from the Curriculum Institute and Leadership Academy of the California Community College Association for Occupational Education as well as a certificate of completion from the New World of Work-21st Century Employability Skills Training.
