FC SHERBECK FIELD – Several community members shared their opposition to the Fullerton College Sherbeck Field Improvements Project.

Cypress College – Dr. JoAnna Schilling, President
CONNECT2CYPRESS & MAJORS2CAREERS – Dr. Schilling shared that Cypress College will kick off its Guided Pathways initiative with current and prospective students at the Connect2Cypress and Majors2Careers events on November 6, 2018… UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS WEEK – The President announced Undocumented Students Week, which includes activities dedicated to supporting undocumented students at Cypress College, from October 15-19, 2018… FOUNDATION GOLF CLASSIC – Dr. Schilling reported that the Foundation Golf Classic was successful, raising over $60,000 in donations.
Fullerton College – Dr. Greg Schulz, President
CONSUL GENERAL OF BELGIUM – Dr. Schulz announced that the honorable Henri Vantieghem, Consul General of the Kingdom of Belgium, will be on campus to present a lecture and Q&A session on October 24, 2018… TITLE V DEVELOPING HSI GRANT – The President shared that Fullerton College was awarded a $2.7 million, five-year Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions grant focused on expanding dual enrollment and pathways efforts, as well as accelerating the time to completion and rate of completion for degrees, certificates, and transfers… GREAT SHAKEOUT DRILL – Dr. Schulz reported that Fullerton College will be among thousands of schools and businesses across California to participate in the Great ShakeOut Drill on October 18, 2018.
North Orange Continuing Education – Valentina Purtell, Provost
OIRP STUDENT SURVEYS – Ms. Purtell shared that the Office of Institutional Research and Planning is conducting several student surveys, including term vs. semester, Hope Center: basic needs, and Grads2Be: undocumented students, throughout the month of October… GREAT SHAKEOUT DRILL – The Provost announced that NOCE will participate in the Great ShakeOut Drill on October 18, 2018 to practice emergency procedures in case of a natural disaster… HARVESTING OPPORTUNITIES – Ms. Purtell invited the Board to attend NOCE's free family festival and resource fair, Harvesting Opportunities, at the Anaheim Campus on October 20, 2018.

NOCE ACADEMIC SENATE UPDATES – NOCE Academic Senate President Tina McClurkin commented that the Senate is discussing the academic calendar, constitution and bylaws, priority registration, and syllabus template.
CC ACADEMIC SENATE UPDATES – Cypress College Academic Senate President Craig Goralski shared the Senate's approval of Dr. Schilling's proposal to split the Executive Vice President position into two new positions—Vice President of Instruction and Vice President of Student Success, concerns with the decision-making process related to the new curriculum management system, and discussion on the faculty prioritization rubric.
FC ACADEMIC SENATE UPDATES – Fullerton College Academic Senate President Josh Ashenmiller reported on Senate discussions around distance education, cultural insensitivity in student and faculty interactions, and the priority list for hiring new full-time faculty members.
UF ELECTIONS – United Faculty President Dana Clahane commented on UF elections.
TEXTBOOKS – Adjunct Faculty United President Kent Stevenson reported on textbook costs.

FC EVENT – Board Member Stephen Blount shared that he attended the October 4 Fullerton College event with Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva in celebration of the Welding Program securing a $1 million special allocation in the 2018-19 State budget.
FULLERTON MUSEUM – Board Member Molly McClanahan shared information on a Fullerton Museum exhibit and panel discussion.
ACES CONFERENCE – Board Member Barbara Dunsheath commented on the recent Advisory Committee on Educational Services Conference she attended.
Finance & Facilities
PURCHASE ORDERS & CHECKS – The Board ratified purchase orders and checks. (The Purchase Orders and Checks are available for review in the District's Business Office.)
TRAVEL EXPENSE REPORT – The Board received the 2017-18 Travel Expense Report as an information item.
ATMS – The Board authorized the request to renew the agreement with the SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union for the service of Automated Teller Machines placed at Cypress College, Fullerton College, and the Anaheim Campus, by extending the agreement through July 31, 2023.
FC DONATIONS – The Board authorized the request for Fullerton College to accept donations to its divisions, departments, and programs.
FC ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME – The Board authorized the request to allow the Fullerton College Physical Education Division to host the Athletic Hall of Fame on the College campus on April 12, 2019 and allow them to purchase and serve alcoholic beverages.
OUT-OF-COUNTRY TRAVEL – The Board authorized the request to pre-approve out-of-country travel for Silvie Grote to Osaka, Japan from May 15 – 17, 2019.
FC SHERBECK FIELD IMPROVEMENTS EIR – The Board authorized the request to approve (5-1) an augment to the existing agreement with Dudek for the Fullerton College Sherbeck Field Improvements EIR, and to extend the contract end date to December 31, 2019.
CC CURRICULUM – The Board approved the summary of curriculum changes for Cypress College, to be effective Fall 2018 and Fall 2019.
PROMOTION – The Board approved the promotion of Christi O'Daniel to Fullerton College Administrative Assistant III, effective October 10, 2018.
FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS – The Board discussed any potential future agenda items.
The next regular meeting of the NOCCCD Board of Trustees will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, in the first-floor Board Room, Anaheim Campus, 1830 W. Romneya Drive, Anaheim.
