The NOCCCD is proud of our accomplishments in community volunteering. Students, faculty, and staff have contributed in significant ways to better our community, our world. Some of the ways in which the District and its students and employees have assisted in community efforts are described below.

The SCE Construction Program

The School of Continuing Education (SCE) Construction Program teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for those in need on Friday, August 9, 2002. SCE's Construction Program utilized the skills learned in the classroom to provide assistance with electrical wiring, general contracting, painting, molding and installation of cabinetry and hardware for four new homes in the Stanton area.

This was the third hands-on building event that SCE participated in with Habitat for Humanity. Phil Famolaro, Construction Program Coordinator, sought the opportunity to create, as he mentions, "a win-win situation for all parties involved: Habitat for Humanity needed additional volunteers for their building project, Stanton residents will receive new homes and SCE students will gain practical experience by utilizing the electrical and general contracting skills they learned in the classroom."

Many other efforts on the part of District students, faculty, and staff have benefited our surrounding community. A few of those efforts are described below. For more information about the District's community volunteering programs, call (714) 808-4671.
