ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS

All degrees and course work used to satisfy the required minimum qualifications for a position must be awarded by postsecondary institutions accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Institutions “approved” by the California Department of Education or by the California Council for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education are NOT accredited for purposes of this requirement.

For more information visit USDE Office of Post-secondary Education: http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation

Or CHEA website at: www.chea.org

FOREIGN DEGREES

Applicants who have completed college or university course work at an institution in a country other than the United States must obtain, at the applicant’s expense, a complete evaluation of foreign transcripts, degrees, and other relevant documents. Where degrees, certifications or units are required to satisfy the minimum qualifications for a position, the evaluation must include course-by-course reports with semester unit equivalencies, letter grades, and indication of whether courses are lower division or upper division. This evaluation must be submitted with the district employment application as part of the complete application package.

The evaluation must be completed by a United States credential service. Credential evaluation services are private enterprises that charge a fee for their services. The North Orange County Community College District only recognizes evaluations from organizations who are members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES), which is an association of private educational credential evaluation services committed to formulating and maintaining ethical standards in the field of foreign educational evaluation. Visit the NACES home page www.naces.org to obtain a listing of member evaluation services.

EVALUATIONS OF FOREIGN DEGREES AND COURSE WORK ARE ADVISORY AND THE DISTRICT WILL MAKE THE FINAL DETERMINATION AS TO EQUIVALENCY
